Speaking About the Book: What David and Goliath Taught Me Again

When I wrote Health Tech Giant Slayer, I opened with David and Goliath. Standing in that room last week, I realized how much deeper that story has become in my own life.
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak to my New Canaan Society brothers. I’ve given a lot of talks over the last 2 years… but this one hit different. This time, I wasn’t speaking about my book.
I was speaking about the Book. When I wrote Health Tech Giant Slayer, I opened with the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel.
At the time, I understood the story from a business lens—how underdogs win, how conviction beats size, how preparation meets opportunity. But standing in that room last week, I realized how much deeper that story has become in my own life. This journey—starting 5 Stones Growth Systems, stepping out in faith later in my career, learning daily what it means to trust God in the unknown—it’s changed me.
Not just as a leader.
Not just as an operator.
But as a man.
There’s something humbling about looking back and realizing that what you thought was your plan… was actually His all along. Grateful for the path.
Grateful for the growth.
Grateful for the brothers who walk alongside me.
And grateful that the story is still being written.
