Young at Heart: What I Saw at the Young Health Leader Summit
If this is the next generation of healthcare leadership, I think we're in pretty good hands.
Apparently, “young at heart” was enough to get me into YHLS. 😂
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Young Health Leader Summit at The Pearl here in Charlotte. YHLS calls itself the #1 event for the next generation of healthcare decision makers, bringing together rising leaders from health systems, health plans, health tech and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
I may have stretched the definition of "young" a little bit, but I walked away incredibly encouraged by what I saw.
A Different Kind of Room
There was an energy in the room that just felt different.
Not the typical stuffy healthcare conference where everyone disappears into their own circles between sessions.
People were engaging. Asking questions. Making introductions. Sharing ideas. Challenging each other. And genuinely excited about where healthcare is going and the role they can play in shaping it.
If this is the next generation of healthcare leadership, I think we're in pretty good hands.
The Ecosystem at The Pearl
What made it even more meaningful for me was seeing how many of those people are already becoming part of the ecosystem being built here at The Pearl.
I get to work here every day through 5 Stones Growth Systems, and I talk about how special this place is all the time. Last week I got to see the magnitude of the impact.
Founders. Operators. Health system leaders. Investors. Innovators. Students. Mentors.
All learning from each other and building relationships in the same place.
I was also fortunate to experience the conference alongside Ankur Patel, DO, RPHD, founder of Osler OS, one of the companies I'm privileged to work with. Watching founders like Andy connect with this next generation of healthcare leaders is exactly why ecosystems like this matter.
The People Make the Place
The buildings at The Pearl are impressive.
But the people filling them are what will ultimately make this place special.
After last week, I'm even more excited about what is being built here in Charlotte.
And for the record...
I'm sticking with "young at heart." 😂
